The Interior Designer Edit: Back to School

For families, the first week of September means only one thing; it’s back to school! Whether it’s your little ones’ first day at primary, the grand move to ‘big school’ or your terrible teens starting sixth form, you’ll find yourself buying jazzy pencil cases, practicing times tables and signing record books for the next nine months.

The greatest struggle of them all? Keeping your kids on top of their homework. But rest assured – there is a solution! A neat, stylish and practical desk is essential. Here, our interior designers have rounded up some of our favourite options for all ages to help keep your kids at the top of the class.

    Nursery – Jungle Jungle

One of our Parisian highlights, these super-sweet desks from Jungle Jungle are perfect for younger age groups. A traditional flip-style desk, they come with matching schools – ideal for little bottoms! There are a range of pastel finishes available and plenty of storage within to keep books tucked away, meaning your kids won’t be causing extra mess.

    Primary School – Les Gambettes

We first spotted Les Gambettes at Maison Objet last week, and we’ve fallen a bit in love with this 50s style brand. Choose between the Romy, Vera and Regina desk, three mid-century style designs available in a range of colourways to suit all décor schemes. Les Gambettes isn’t available in the UK yet, but ask your Decologist to incorporate it into your concept board – remember any product can be included in your final design as long as it can be bought online. Secondary School  – IKEA

We’ve always championed IKEA and there’s no denying its range of furniture is unbeatable! Whether it’s colourful or clean, contemporary or classic, IKEA has a desk to suit you. IKEA also paved the way for wireless charging – an innovative platform which will keep your phone and devices juiced up while you study.

    Sixth  Form – Heal’s

For a more sophisticated style, look no further than Heal’s – ideal for sixth formers and uni students. It boasts a wide range of solid wood desks to suit all décor styles from various designers. Our personal favourite is the Orson compact desk by Matthew Hilton – simple, classic and elegant.

    0-18 …. Oliver Furniture

We recently discovered Oliver Furniture and we would definitely advise any Scandi-fans check out this Danish brand. Designing beautiful wooden furniture for the whole family, Oliver is designed to last for generations – meaning a classic design will see your kids through from nursery to A Levels. The only problem may be scrubbing pen off its clean white surface!

Remember, our team of experts are on hand through every step of your Decology design journey – so whether it’s sourcing that up-and-coming brand or designing an entire home office, their professional advice can make all the difference. Find out more and start your project today:
