    Kid’s special

Kids rooms don’t have to be all plastics and primary colours. There are plenty of well designed, hardwearing, and stylish pieces that you’ll love as much as they do.  Here’s our edit of some of the best.

    Danish By Design

Flick through a smart interiors magazine and in any featured nursery, the cot is bound to be Leander. The Danish brand’s curvaceous design has been a staple in children’s rooms from Copenhagen to Chelsea for decades, and now they have expanded their range to include Linea, a trio of sleek, Scandi style pieces crafted from solid oak. Including a cotbed that converts in to a sofa, a chest of drawers and a height adjustable baby changing table, the brand new collection also features stylish accessories including canopies, side bumpers & sofa cushions, all in a cool modern colour palette.

    Wood You Credit It

D.A.D, otherwise known as Discover Awesome Design is a web site run by two designer dads, who, lets face it, want all of these toys for themselves. From books and prints by some of the world’s top illustrators to hand crafted toys and unusual gifts, everything is beautifully made and shares a cool design aesthetic. These solid beech wood Candylab cars would make a great gift for big and little kids alike. Also check out their blog for plenty of ‘dadvice’ and interviews with other design mad dads.

    Appsolutely Fabulous

Stuck for things to do with the kids this summer holiday? Just Download Hoop. Every month this clever app lists over 35,000 events and activities for children nationwide, and whats more, one in five activities are completely free. From sand sculpting classes and baby raves to family festivals and music workshops, you can also filter activities to suit your criteria, by distance or age range for example.

    Off The Wall

Hibou Home has long been a one stop shop for children’s wallpaper, fabric, bedding and accessories, all in a carefully chosen palette of Scandinavian inspired colours.  One of our favourites is this Teepees wallpaper, featuring graphic, tribal motifs ideal for any mini adventurer. The non-woven, ‘paste the wall’ paper is sustainably and ethically sourced from FSC and PEFC accredited suppliers, and designed and made in England. Choose from Storm Green and Grey or Indigo and White, and as a treat pick up one of the coordinating teepee or feather cushions too.

We all love Loaf for their huge comfy sofas and their perfectly pared down furniture, and now they have expanded their laid-back aesthetic to include a range of 100 new pieces for cool kids rooms. Including cabin-style, bunk and storage beds, furniture, colourful pouffes, cushions, throws and rugs, we also love these mini Gaston lamps, which are ideal by a bedside or even on a desk.
