This room should feel Elegant & sophisticated
Going to take electric fire out and install a real fire (not log burner as would need to loose the fireplace)
Love about the space
Flooring, shutters, how light the room is in the morning, original features.
Dislike/hate about the space
Include the following Colours/prints/textures
Colours – yes I love grey (boring i know) and cooler tones, I also like the idea of an accent colour but not sure what one. I prefer cool tones to warm.
I also like texture as long as it is not too out there! I want the room to feel elegant but still comfy.
Exclude the following Colours/prints/textures
Red, orange and brown.
Would consider changing
Wall finish I prefer paint for this room and would consider a new colour (current one is Farrow and Ball Cornforth White). I also would consider a different colour in alcoves or maybe mirror but not sure if that will look tacky?!
Window treatments I love the shutters but want new window treatments, these are just from Ikea and were a quick fix.
Storage Alcove storage for vases and wine and to house TV. This is really critical.
Lighting Table lamps, maybe a floor lamp if there is room.
Seating 5 at least with flexible for another 1 or 2. Sofa style and comfort is crucial for us – I want an elegant looking sofa but something that is also very comfy and not too straight. My hubby is 6ft 3in so it needs to be deep enough for him to be able to relax on but not too deep that it takes over the room.
I want to keep the mirror above the fire but need to dress the fireplace and mantle
After speaking to my husband again we definitely want a central coffee table or ottoman, we entertain a lot so need a surface to put things on
