Spring into Spring – The best high street spring buys

Last week we were looking ahead to spring and picked out our favourite trends for the season – and there’s no reason you can’t recreate these in your own home! With a few simple touches and lustworthy accessories, you can give your home a fresh update for the forthcoming months. And best of all? You can source it all from our very own British high street. Here, we round up where to head to for each ‘look’ with some of our favourite buys. Time to get shopping…

    Velvet  921527_oliver-bonas_homeware_velvet-love-tub_4

Velvet is the plushest fabric of them all, calling for elaborate, luxurious homewares to match. We adore the range of velvet options on offer at Oliver Bonas, in particular the velvet ‘Love Tub’ seats (£625) and matching footstalls (£285) in this rich Amethyst shade for a 1920s vibe. Cocktail hour, anyone?

hmprodH&M is your high street hero here – home to the most colourful, tropical-inspired prints guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Standout items include its range of cushion covers, priced at just £7.99 each, in a variety of yellows, greens, pinks and blues. The perfect addition to any sofa or bedspread. Complete the look with braided baskets, gold lanterns and black accessories for a jungle-tastic feel.

    Dusky pastel

Marks & Spencer’s current geometric pastel collections are perfectly in keeping with the contemporary twist given to pastels this year. Pinks, blues and greens are complemented with slightly darker shades of grey and taupe paired with copper and metallic accessories for a 2016 spin on the trend which returns year-after-year.

We first spotted this grey Ritchie sofa (£599) on Katrina Burroughs’ pages in the Sunday Times Home and since then we’ve become a little obsessed with’s wide range of sofas in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colours. Simple, elegant and classic.

For those going a little bolder, why not try a lick of paint or a wallpaper? John Lewis never fails to impress – you can order big name brands such as Osborne & Little, Cole & Son and Sanderson all under one roof, but actually it’s John Lewis’ own brand seagull wallpaper which we adore. Perfect for kids rooms! (£19 per metre).

    70s Luxe

The Odyssey oval dining table from Heal’s is your statement piece for this trend. It might be a little on the pricier side at £2800, but it’s opulent, ultra-stylish look is matched by sleek curved glass, a walnut veneer and a chrome base – ideal for Mid-Century style dining rooms. Pair with velvet chairs in a similar colour scheme and suitably glamourous accessories, such as this Hitchcock floor lamp (£230), also available from Heal’s.
